Born and raised in Southern California but with a strong Vietnamese culture as a child, I like to think of myself as having the best of both worlds.
Food.
My comfort foods may fall more towards the good ol' American mashed potatoes, hashbrowns and country fried steaks, but somehow I always find that I tend to cook more Asian meals at home. I guess that's partly due to cooking for my mom, and my Southeast Asia-originated husband. He loves a mean bowl of Pho.
The thing about "Asian" cooking to me is that you really can't go wrong. Most everything is usually "to taste", so really, how is that wrong? The only time I ever use actual measurements in my "Asian" cooking is when it involves dough of some sort.
So I'll try to document some meals and the no-fail "recipes" (usually just whatever is in the fridge)... in the meantime, the hubster and I enjoy finding great deals on good local meals... and sometimes not so great of a deal, but so worth it...
